The Best of Belize

Dive Sites

The best dive sites are in Southern Belize and the dive boats fill up fast! Don't miss your chance to see the Blue Hole, Glover's Reef, South Water Caye and more. The Belize Barrier Reef is the second largest in the world. It's a must-see while you're visiting the country. When you choose Belize Underwater, you get it all. We take our divers and snorkelers out to the same spots on the same boat. No matter your skill level, you can enjoy the Belize Barrier Reef with everyone in your travel party!

Belize Barrier Reef

Our most visited dive site, the Belize Barrier Reef. We go here often, always seeing something new. Just 30 minutes from shore, these sites are 35-60 ft and offer mild drift dives along multicolored walls and ridges teaming with eels, lobsters, groupers and other reef inhabitants.

Glover’s Atoll

An hour and a half boat ride gets you to the least explored atoll in Belize named by Jacques Cousteau as one of his favorite dive sites. Wall diving from 40-60 ft offers the chance to see all kinds of rays, turtles and rivers of wrasse swimming along stunning coral structures at this United Nations World Heritage Site. This is a long, three-tank day.

Turneffe Islands

About an hour and a half away, Turneffe Islands offer a wide variety of slopes and shear wall dives. Marine life viewing is greatly impacted by the currents around the islands, bringing schools of large fish. The first dive is "The Elbow" at about 80 feet which sometimes has strong currents.

Blue Hole

Lighthouse Reef is about three hours away and offers divers a chance to dive the famous Blue Hole. This is a unique dive down to 130 feet for advanced divers with at least 25 dives and who have been diving with Belize Underwater recently. We will ask to see your log book for confirmation. After the Blue Hole, we'll complete a great diving adventure at Half Moon Caye and the Aquarium. These are multi-level wall dives at a maximum of 50 feet for about 45 minutes.

Gladden Spit

Gladden Spit is a one hour and thirty minute boat ride away. You will dive at a depth no greater than 60 ft in the open ocean with no visible bottom. Divers get the opportunity to swim along the largest fish in the ocean, the whale shark. The whale shark season in Belize normally begins two days before the full moon and lasts until 10 days after in March, April, May and June. This is an advanced dive/ snorkel and is only for experienced divers and snorkelers. To ensure that all divers are prepared, you will need to dive with us the day before to any of our other dive sites.
