Ambergris Caye has the most scuba accessible dive spots in all of Belize. The Diving is world-class with Drop-offs, Wrecks, Caverns, and a large variety of marine life that you would expect to find on a 200+ mile Barrier Reef. Sandy streets, Laid-back attitudes, Great shopping and popular after-dive bars and restaurants is why this is a premier destination.
With the reef just 1 mile from shore; surface intervals get done on the beach or at a restaurant. It’s the best of both worlds, undersea and above.

The Belizean people have the reputation as some of the most friendly in the world. But, these are divers’ islands, where you can dive the full gamut of reef structures in one day: Barrier, Seamount or atoll! With our healthy and extensive reef system, Belize offers something for divers of all skill and experience level. In addition to the vast array of brilliantly colored tropical fish commonly seen throughout the Caribbean, there are groupers of every sort because the islands are an important spawning area for them.

Morey eels, spotted eagle rays, reef and nurse sharks are very common. Sea turtles are everywhere, and the Island has some of the most pristine and healthiest reefs in the world, thanks to the efforts of a forward-thinking and proactive dive community.
It would take far too long to describe the many different dive sites off Ambergris Caye, however, below are some of the more popular spots.

1. Amigo’s Wreck: located in 80” feet of water, this site is just outside our beautiful coral canyons. The wreck attracts large marine life, like Big Nassau grouper, Reef sharks and Big Moray eels.
2. Victoria Tunnels: located in 80-110” feet of water, this great tunnel dive offers fantastic canyon formations, excellent visibility, plenty of fish and a cement crucifix statue at 65 feet.
3. Devil’s Canyon: A Steep Drop-off Wall dive dropping to about 150” feet. It is a very impressive dive with many species of fish and coral of every kind.

With only a 10 minute boat ride to the “cut” as its called locally, starts out in around 8 feet of water then gradually drops off to about 35 ft. with spectacular colors and aquatic life. It is truly a underwater wonder place and I have never seen anyone who didn’t say it was a “must see”! You may even want to scuba dive after snorkeling in that aquatic sanctuary.
